Why an instrument, not an assistant.

A body of work outlasts the memory of the person who made it. A scholar publishes for thirty years; an institution accumulates a quarter century of reports, talks, and filings. The record is complete, and almost no one can answer a question against the whole of it on demand.

Most tools that promise to help will summarize, paraphrase, and invent. That is the opposite of what a record needs. The value of an archive is that it is true, and the only honest way to query it is to return the passage, not a gloss of the passage.

The receipt comes with the claim

Stature cites at the level of the passage. Click a citation and you land on the sentence that produced the answer, with the level it carries and the date it was written. If the evidence is not in your record, the answer says so and stops there.

Built to endure

The mark is an Ionic volute, the scroll at the top of a column, the oldest visual shorthand for preserved knowledge. That is the posture: deliberate, restrained, made to last. An instrument you reach for, not a companion that chatters.
